SSFD SEEKING TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR WITH QUANTITATIVE FAMILY METHODS FOCUS

The School of Social and Family Dynamics (SSFD), an interdisciplinary unit at Arizona State University (http://ssfd.asu.edu), invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a focus on quantitative family methods beginning Fall 2010. He/she will be expected to teach advanced quantitative methods courses and to take part in interdisciplinary research.

SSFD Awarded Seal of Approval for Gender Equity

The Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS) has recognized the School of Social and Family Dynamics as a gender-friendly department. The SWS awards the Seal of Approval for Gender Equity to departments whose faculty consists of at least 40% women and, thus, recognizes "departments that excel in creating a climate that is welcoming to women and gender scholars." 

New book published, edited by Cobas, Duany, and Feagin

Paradigm Press just published How the United States Racializes Latinos: White Hegemony and Its Consequences, edited by SSFD's José A. Cobas, Jorge Duany (University of Puerto Rico) and Joe Feagin (Texas A&M University). Read more about this book on the publisher's website.

Cecilia Menjivar receives 2007 Distinguished Contribution to Research Award

Cecilia Menjivar has received the 2007 Distinguished Contribution to Research Award from the American Sociological Association's Section on Latina/o Sociology!

Recognition Fellowship Awards

Each year, the School of Social and Family Dynamics (SSFD) recognizes outstanding graduate students by awarding fellowships to continuing graduate students whose work and efforts represented the highest levels of service, commitment and innovation. 

To do this, we have created two types of awards: (1) Engagement Fellowship Award, and (2) Innovation Research Award.
